Between Monday January 30th and Wednesday February 1st, Aruba welcomed the Dutch Royal Family during their official visit to our island.
A bit of background information: Aruba is an autonomous country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and while all internal affairs are controlled by the government, foreign affair and defense are controlled by the Kingdom. Fun fact: Arubans carry the Dutch nationality.
This visit was a special one, as it was HRH Amalia, princess of Orange-Nassau’s first official tour of the Caribbean part of the Dutch Kingdom. Together with her parents, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima, the princess had a full agenda while on the island, from meeting with the governor and parliament members to visiting various historic locations on island. They visited beautiful locations like the Arikok National Park and learned about their conservation work, walked in Downtown San Nicolas to admire the colorful murals, and ended their trip with a cultural evening visiting the Bon Bini Festival in Oranjestad.
Jacky and her team were honored to be approached as the official transportation company for the Royal family. She worked closely with the officials in charge to make sure the family could be safely and comfortably transported to all the locations during their visit. The cherry on the top? Jacky’s late mother was a big fan of the Dutch Royal family all her life and could always be heard counting the tales of the previous Royal visits of the island, so this opportunity was special in many ways.
